    Change order of taskbar windows?

In other verisons of windows the tiles on the taskbar would be in order from time. If i opened Google Chrome, and then Adobe, and then another Google Chrome instance it would look that way. Now however it "groups" the two Google Chrome ones near other, and the Adobe one on the left. Anyway to change that?

Right click the Taskbar, then click Properties. Then select 'Never Combine' next to 'Taskbar Buttons'.

That doesn't help, that just makes them not overlap each other.

    Hello Helltech,

You could drag the Adobe icon to the left of the Chrome icon, then drop it to move it on the taskbar. The icon must stay within the taskbar while dragging it though.

    Hope this helps,
    Shawn

Yeah but I was just using that as an example, it gets annoying when I have 10 or so things running, at which point that no longer is useful, so I take it there is no way to do what I want to do then?

Unless you have the programs pinned to the taskbar and arranged in the order you like, they will always open to the right of any current icons on the taskbar.

Pin the apps to taskbar, then arrange them as you like. Then they will always stick to the places you set them.

It's a good idea to lock the taskbar also so not to talk move around by mistake.

Locking the taskbar will only affect being able to move the taskbar itself or toolbars. You will still be able to move icons on the taskbar whether it's locked or unlocked.

Thanks, Shawn. LOL! That goes to show how much I know. I thought it locked everything concerning the bar.
