How to display folders only in search?

I'm trying to delete all of my mp3s, but searching for them shows each file individually. Is there a way to get File Explorer to show only folders that contain mp3s?

    You search C:\ with -- *.mp3

That should show all mp3 files on the computer.

Thanks, but I guess I could have been more clear. Instead of listing the individual .mp3 files, I want it to only list the folders that hold them. If I delete the files individually, as your screenshot shows, I would still have to delete the empty folders, which would be a time-consuming process.

Hmm.. not sure why others are having such a hard time understanding what you want, seems perfectly clear to me.

To search for folders, you use the keyword:

    kind:=folder

After you type kind: there will be a dropdown that lets you select the kind. Then you can search only for folders.

Yes, but how do I have it list folders that only contain mp3 files?

this isn't the squeaky clean solution you're looking for but in a pinch it will work
    on start type .mp3
rightclick any mp3 file and it will show you the folderc
or lick Open file location to be sure you don't want to keep any files
if not, just go up one level
delete the folder you were just in

    repeat as necessary
just my 1 (2 adjusted for inflation)

I used this program on 7 and just set it up on 8 TreeSize Free - Quickly Scan Directory Sizes and Find Space Hogs
under Options there's a choice to Filter and you set your own filtering criteria. I only know how to set 1 filter but more can be added.

Yes, I actually played around with that program a couple of days ago but didn't delve deep enough into it, but it looks like it will do the trick. I still haven't figured out how to select multiple folders for deletion (shift or control seems to have no effect), though.
