Did you happen to get an install USB or DVD? A Refresh might help, I'm positive it can be done without installation media though.

EDIT: DIDN'T READ IT CAREFULLY. I still recommend a Refresh or Reset (reinstalls), as it will most likely fix your problem.

I tried the recovery discs but that didn't work, it won't let me to a refresh icon, it won't even let me do a hard boot.

Do you have an installation disc? You may have to set your CD/DVD drive to boot first, via your laptop's BIOS.
