Cloned HDD windows 8 won't boot

Hi, I just cloned my HDD which had windows 8 pre installed on it to a new HDD. The cloning process went great the only problem i am having is that the newly cloned HDD can not boot on its own. I would like to know If there is anything I can do to change the new HDD to be the boot drive. If anyone could please help that would be great Thanks.

You need to enter the BIOS and set this new HDD to be the first boot device

    Use the OEM Recovery disks.

    information   Information

We always assume you have made your Recovery Disks using the OEM manufacturer's Recovery Media Creator app the first day you had your new PC.
& made the Startup Repair CD.
Recovery Drive - Create with USB Flash Drive in Windows 8
System Repair Disc - Create in Windows 8

Did you make the OEM manufacturer's Recovery Disks?

I tried cloning my Windows 8 installation to another disk using Paragon Migrate OS to SSD, but like with you, the cloned HDD wouldn't boot. I later read that the Paragon software isn't compatible with Windows 8, but will be with next update. Could be the same reason you weren't successful as well.

Paragon are slow with that then.

My copy of HDM includes migrate function. It is fine with win 8.

How about Aomei Backuper? Have you tried that on Windows 8 yet? I just installed it on my Windows 7 disk, per your post about the giveaway on Seven Forums, thank you, and it works like a charm, but I haven't tried it on 8 yet.

I did use aomei to do the clone but where it shows my hdd's in aomei interface the original hdd says boot under the status tab and the newly cloned hdd says nothing in the status tab. I went into the uefi to set it as the bootable hdd but it doesn't have that option.

    Yes, Aomei Backuper is great.

Of course it doesn't have the fancy extras of a paid program.

Everything most people need is there.

Here it is in windows eight pe :

The 'Boot' designation means that is the OS that is currently running.

Change the hard drive boot order in your BIOS to check if the cloned drive will boot up.
You can also select which HDD/OS to boot from by using the one time boot selector when you start the computer, mine is F12 but yours may be different. Look for it when your system starts or check your computer or motherboard manual.

If you can't change the cloned HDD to boot then it needs the correct partition to be marked 'Active'.
You can check in Windows Disk Management to confirm but, it should be the 'System' partition on your GPT drives.

    What computer do you have?
Since you have the 'Windows RE' partition it looks like an OEM system.
