And here

If you do a clean install to an already partitioned disc drive the System Reserved drive does not appear to be created - for example I don't have one - see the first paragraph in the last link I posted above.

If you read the various posts I linked previously you will see answers to all your questions.

In Summary:

1. The System Reserved 'drive' only appears if you upgrade to Win 8 or if you create the partition to install Win 8 when you are installing it.
2. It does no harm to your PC - Windows did create it at installation for a reason.
3. Once created it can be removed - but this is not easy and is not just a case of 'deleting' it
4. It can be hidden from Explorer by simply removing the 'drive' letter in Disk Management

Reading the links I posted explain all of this - but more fully.

The System reserved showing in My Computer is most likely caused, by incorrectly install of the dual boot, thereby making two System reserved, which is very harmful.

No need to format System Reserved.

Looks like, you have Windows 7 boot files on Windows 7 C: (which is Windows 8 D: )

& Windows 8 boot files on System Reserved.

All boot files should be on System Reserved.

Now I can see, delete System Reserved, & extend D: to that space.

As you format the partition, it of NO use.
