Maybe you need to log in as administrator?

Usually you get a popup that asks for administrator approval before continuing...

I used WinRar but it told me that I don't have permissions to delete the "META-INF" folder (which I needed to delete from the archive)
It seems you are trying to delete it inside the winrar app?

    1. Extract the Files to a folder. (WinRar)
    2. Delete the unnecessary file

You can delete items from inside WinRar, I can't copy the file, extract it, move it, delete it because I don't thave the read permissions

Try right clicking the the archive, and selecting properties.

There should be a Read Only option. UnCheck that box.

That should fix it if it's a Read Only problem...

Right click, properties, security click your name, and check the allow box for everything, hit apply and ok. Then try the operation again.

I am getting access denied when attempting to get into a folder. Just recently installed Windows8. I had the same issue with win7, but I managed to resolve it. What do I need to do to get around this? I don't remember ever having had a problem with simply getting into one of my own folders.
