Fonts just don't seem right to me...Help?

I don't know if my Windows 8 is having some issues with fonts but.. some things just don't look right compared to Windows 7. I read up some research on the AA from Windows 8 fonts and everything should be fixed but.. things don't look so hot on mine. Here are some screenshots. Can someone help me? PS: I have the latest 310.70 drivers from Nvidia.

I'm not sure what problem you see in those fonts. They look normal to me. The only adjustment I made with the fonts on Windows 8 is that I changed the titlebar font to 10. The titlebars looked too big for me.

*Okay maybe there is a difference in fonts. See here:

But to be honest I think this is normal.

It just really doesn't look like there is any AA to them. I'm used to how fonts looked with Windows 7.

The only thing I can think of is ClearType Text Tuner. Control Panel>Appearance and Personalization>Display, click on Adjust Cleartype Text. If there is a check mark on Turn on Cleartype, then AA is enabled. I'm not really sure what else to tell you. Unless there is some sort of option for Font AA in the NVidia Control Panel but I don't think so.

Fonts in w8 looks tolerable here (on different laptops), but definitely not as crisp as in w7.

Exception: IE10 fonts in webpages are muddy and fuzzy, making IE10 useless (so am using Chrome & FF, where everything looks fine). And has nothing to do with clear type etc, it's a IE10 'feature'.

Many people have found that optimizing their display driver settings have caused fonts to look bad. I suggest that if you have modified your display settings, you should go back to default.

The IE10 headache-font has nothing to do with true type settings, driver or hardware acceleration etc. Lots of discussions, Google it. IE10 is designed to look muddy (grey-scale font rendering).

> IE10 Consumer Preview Smoothing Fonts Without Any Color and they did nothing to fix it for the final release. Quote: "The scary part is that the general public is probably too dumb to notice" lol.

It is a last-ditch attempt to increase speed in IE10 at the expense of clarity by reducing the amount of processing that is required to render a web-page, Metro app page etc., compared to the competitors which allow Cleartype to support their browser rendering on web pages.

It has the effect of reducing everything down to a mediocre level so that it works on RT as well as on top end processors with Windows 8 Pro x64. It is crazy for desktop users since ClearType is on by default, and therefore pages with the Monochrome rendering do not benefit from ClearType.

Pages look perfectly clear if you set the zoom to 200%, and most of the time at 150%. But Internet Explorer does not properly display scrollbars at higher zoom ratios. Hey Ho! So get yourself a bigger monitor or use a different browser. Oh, or a CRT screen.

Sorry, but I find IE impossible to use anyway, and I just do not bother to use it.
