An easier way to see all apps

Many users like the Alt-Tab app-switcher better than the Logo-Tab, because the Alt-Tab shows both Desktop and Windows 8 apps. But you have to keep holding down the Alt key while tabbing. Here's a way to turn on the Alt-Tab popup so it will stay on without holding any key down. Then you can use the arrow keys to move and peek, and Enter to select, or you can hover to peek and click to select. The menu will disappear when you make a selection, or click outside it.

To do this, you have to find the Alt-Tab menu's icon. It's called "Switch Windows" and I found it in this folder:
C:\Users\Default\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch
If it isn't there, do a search for apps containing the word "Switch" or "Switcher."

Copy and paste it to your desktop. Then, so you can pop up the menu without minimizing all your windows, create a shortcut key for it. Right-click it, select Properties, and in the "Shortcut Key" pane press the key you want to use. Usually, each time you use the key you'll have to hold down Ctrl + Alt, but you don't have to if it's one of the F1-F12 keys, or one of the 4 operation keys + - * / on the numeric keypad. Then, after clicking OK, just tapping that key should pop up the menu.

Unfortunately, if you delete the icon from the desktop, your shortcut key is gone too. But if you don't want it there, what you can do instead is copy the icon into this folder:
C:\Program Data\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Windows Accessories\System Tools
and then create the shortcut key from there.
