Anyone use Windows 8 as a HTPC? what's your input setup?

I use a Logitech k400 Wireless keyboard with a built in trackpad. It's great in theory, but the implementation has a few flaws:
The keys are small, and the trackpad is worthless, especially with Windows 8.

I've been trying to find an alternative, but the only one I found is using apple inputsw and something called a "Magic wand" which connects the two:

I'm wondering if anyone uses this, and what is their thoughts?

here's what I'm thinking of doing:
Buy a Logitech Wireless Rechargeable Touchpad T650
Buy a Logitech Wireless Illuminated Keyboard K800
Buy a board slightly bigger than the footprint of both of these devices, and a bunch of velcro.

    You can guess the rest.

Does anyone think this would work?

Seems like it would work, but a bit pricey, no? $180 list price for the two Logitech items!

Yeah, that's how much it would cost using Apple parts. My K400 was $60, so I know for sure I'd have to pay more.

Well, I guess I use my PC as a HTPC as well as other things running Windows 8.

My input setup right now is a Microsoft Touch Mouse, which is like 30 dollars in the amazon.com. That is VERY ideal for Windows 8, as you have the touch gesturing support.

Also, I have a Logitech K750, it's a wireless solar paneled keyboard, I would recommend it if you like the chiclet style keyboard, which is like the one you have posted. And, it's solar paneled so you never have to recharge batteries for it, and VERY thin!

Maybe. Though I like the idea of having everything attached together. My setup is pretty expense though.

Oh yeah, aesthetics is something to consider.

Personally, I'd try to go out and test the products physically before making the decisions.

Or actually, if the product listing has a 30 day return guarantee, you could take the dollar hit for a bit of time and test out both...

Think about it. Windows 8 has a nice clean interface that is very touch-friendly, which makes it incredibly easy to use with a wii remote. It also is not locked down at all - it can do virtually ANYTHING your current pc can do (though you might prefer to only use the apps that are ported over to...

While streaming to my Roku plex app my HTPC will go to sleep (flashing light on power button). I can wake it right back up via WOL but that's annoying. The media is stored on the same machine via three hard drives using drivepool. So the HTPC is not connecting to a NAS, all media is on the same...
Treat mouse input as touch input in Drivers & Hardware
Hi, Happy new user of my first Windows 8 device (Dell XPS 12 i7 running Windows 8.1 Pro). I like the touch input when it is flat in tablet mode, but when I plug a USB mouse into it when I am at my desk, I want the mouse inputs to be treated exactly like finger inputs on the touch screen. For...
So i've taken the plunge and installed Windows 8 on my HTPC that is connected to my main TV. The start screen really helps when sitting at a distance from the PC with the big icons for plex and netflix etc, the weather and other metro apps also help fill out the screen with nice info and images,...
