Windows 8 Navigation a disaster

Disappointed, confused with Windows8 navigation. Can not find familiar file directory to access files, instead apps and app store! Could some one direct me how I can turn off start screen and go back old fashion ways. Else I will have to go back to my Vista. What a shame!

A Google search on Start menu windows 8 yields thousands of threads on how to being back the desktop and start menu. The best from what I've see is this one: Windows 7 explorer for Windows 8

Simple, go on the Desktop in File Explorer, and pin the Desktop locations you need.



As you can see, I have ALL my libraries, both default and custom, pinned on the left hand side. This is real useful as using the start menu for years and years makes me use the lower left corner to get to Start, as I used the start menu mostly for Library access than anything. I have a Touch Mouse, so if I swipe in from the left of it, I can get to start and move the mouse pointer over a little to the right and open Outlook 2013 and go right back to immersive IE with another finger swipe.

It's not so much about going STRAIGHT back to old fashioned way, but it's more about getting some old fashioned things back on the new modern way....

To banish the useless and annoying metro stuff from sight - try Windows 7 explorer for Windows 8
