I have tried it - don't like it.

I don't think it is true that most who don't like it haven't tried it.

It seems some of those who do like it cannot accept that many don't.

    Strange.

How long have you tried it, and what was the extent of you trying it?

Yes, I will have this discussion.

Well I'm on day three (or is it four) and I am an even bigger fan. I am totally impressed

One thing MS may consider is XP Mode for those of us with good hardware that the manufacturer
did not see fit to create a x64 driver for, like my LiDE 80 scanner, best scanner ever but no x64 Driver
so I had to use Virtual Box, in W7 I used XP mode, now MS is making me use someone else's software.

    Cheers

Daniel what do you need a scanner for in this day and age of digital cameras, and scan printers for?

Well, I've only had it on my desktop for two days and I like it so far.
Some quirky new things but that's always how it goes.
Some learning necessary, but that's why I have joined this forum today!

I've had it since launch. I'm in the process of copying my files so I can reinstall Windows 7. A bunch of little problems with Windows has me throwing in the towel. It is absurd the amount of time I've spent trying to get this OS to behave the way I want it to. The janky permission system, the wasted screen space, Chrome getting all slow, a metro and desktop browser to be all confusing, system settings in both metro mode and desktop mode. The whole experience is disjointed and unpleasant. I've given it a fair shot but tonight drove me over the edge. Can't wait to get back to W7.

Windows 8 Is Just Awesome , UI Is Good Too . I Wonder Why People Want The Start Button ? It Really Does Not Matter To Me though .

Loving windows 8... Haven't used metro UI to much though seems I can do everything I want in desktop mode. Even my school work (going for computer science/ networking degree) so far no disadvantages I also like the toned down look of 8. I was never a fan of the glassy shiny look MS went too for a while. All my drivers worked right away, awesome support for multiple monitors. No need for desktop fusion anymore.

    Hi

To scan old photos, slides, docs.

I have a Multifunctional printer/scanner/fax where I can scan docs to file but for real quality the LiDE80 and Vuescan are, in my opinion, the best by far.

    Cheers

I installed windows 7 a few days ago and missed not having the all apps screen. Thought that day would never of happened. Another reason i come back is wddm 1.2 vs 1.1. Auto scrolling in firefox the text looks much cleaner in win 8 to me. It does feel disjointed having different options requiring navigation from start or desktop. I would rather see metro popup on top desktop that can be minimized and re-sized. Once I got organized, windows 8 any day.
