Desktop icons change appearance

After I reboot or open a program or browser the desktop icons change appearance. Some times after a reboot they have black squares in front of them that go away after opening a program. Any way to correct this?

Got the problem solved. I tried the program classic shell. After uninstalling it the icons are normal.
