You'll just have to ask them when needed.
Helping has to be your own decision.:)

Maybe quoting what his wifi says at the moment? Even in Belgium that's fast, but possible. Google is testing 1Gbs in Kansas City, Comcast has 50Mbs, and Verizon offers FIOS on America's old and much more spread out infrastructure. But yeah, 120Mbs I would be tempted to start a little hosting company in my basement.

Back to the original question. I don't think most newbies even look at the "My System Specs" or think to post them with their questions. All they are concerned with is the problem they have.

I'll upload a picture of my set up soon, it's obviously nothing special as the computer itself is quite old, but this setup allows me to play any game I want to (currently) with awesome sound, perhaps not in surround sound, yet, it is in the making. Has anyone set up Windows 8 onto a projector? Which I was thinking of doing in the near future. 120mbps internet speed? I get 900kb's torrent download speed.

Jeff

That's a LOT of information to fill out when you are in the middle of a problem and just want a quick answer to something. Heck, having to sign-up at all to ask a question is frankly a "bother" more than likely.

I haven;t even filled out mine on eight forums as I spent time doing it on seven forums and duplicating it is a bit of a hassle. Personally, getting tired of having to constantly fill out my life's story on every one of the 50 sites I visit in a year.

Almost the same what I have here.

Still thinking about this...

He's just pulling your legs, His system specs say: 16 up, 2 down.

If you wonder why you sign up for 20 Mips but you get a lot less. Don't forget the phrase "UP TO", that means it depends on what
kind of equipment you have, if you have an old router or your network card can only handle 100 MIPS then your network traffic will be slow.

If you are connected by copper, the distance from the nearest exchange also determines the speed.

We're supposed to get 24 Mb/s, but I haven't seen more than ~6.5 Mb/s at our house.

This I think is one of the main reasons why. The system specs thing only lists ONE computer, while very few people will only have one. I list my custom computer because I just need to say my Laptop is a Acer V5-571G-6401 w/128GB SSD, but many people have multiple systems and to theme there's no logical reason why one specific system should be listed while the others are not.

I think it would be helpful if we can list multiple systems, and if the signup page included instructions as to how to find information about your system.

Yeah, my listed i5 pc (has jus one OS on it) is not the ony pc I work on.

So if you like, you can fill 10pc specs in the spec lists, but it will look bad.

Your "pipe" can handle 20MB/s (or whatever the rating is) but there's a whole lot more than just the speed of your local connection that figures into it. On my Road Runner connection I sometimes even see it turn in a higher-than-rated reading (although not very often). It varies at different times of the day. There's just no way to guarantee a particular speed, the server you're talking to at the moment may not be able to deliver that. Your contract speed is stating the maximum throughput you will get if everything works.
