    Hello gazz,

    Thank you.

Yes, all Store (Metro) apps stay. Only the 3rd party desktop apps gets removed unless you created a refresh custom recovery image before having issues.

    I wouldn't trust either option.
When I checked them out on one of the previews (CP or RP) both options stated that they were going to obliterate ALL of my partitions.

Make a backup HDD image and use that.

Agreed. Nothing beats a full system image backup to have handy when needed.

    So true, Brink.

It's saved my bacon more than once.

Definitely my preferred backup solution, by far.

I did a refresh and I knew very well that my apps would be removed because of the fact that this forum made me well aware of that. I don't know how the original poster could not have seen that. The tutorial by Brink was very explicit.

Not true. Here is more or less what I have been saying about "refresh" for some time.

Refresh your PC—Attempts to solve system related problems without affecting your files (system is reinstalled). Installed programs will have to be reinstalled except those from the Windows Store. A list of uninstalled programs is provided. Settings will be changed back to defaults. To do a refresh, you will need to have an install medium. Install media include an install disc, an ISO, and a flash drive set up to install.

And, note that all programs are not necessarily removed.

    Web,

Refresh works the same in Windows 8 Enterprise.

If that is not what you meant, then please give more details.
