    Convert Metro to Window?

I am sure this must have been covered and my apologies if it has already been asked. I may just not be using the correct terms in my search queries.

Is there a way to convert a Metro App, to its counterpart in a Desktop App?

For instance, I open the Metro version of Chrome or IE. I open a half dozen sites. Now I want to view them in a Window so I can drag/drop in to say Outlook for an email.

    or...

I open Netflix in Metro, and want to make it a window so I can do some work while I watch.

Is there a method to convert between Metro and Desktop?

for IE App you can right click on page and click the wrench at the bottom and select view on desktop

Don't know about chrome, wouldn't install that garbage if you paid me

As for other apps, no, unless that feature is built in, and that will be rare if ever to happen.

Basically, if you have the minimum screen resolution to run the metro snap, you can snap Netflix to the side and have a smaller video whilst using Office or other programs. This is done by clicking on the top of the metro app, and then dragging it to the side.

You won't be able to use Outlook to email a website, you'll need to use the metro apps of Mail, Messaging, People, and Calendar. If you're in a metro, immersive internet browser (like IE 10 metro) you use the Share charm to email someone a website.

The metro apps don't and aren't designed like traditional Windows UIs like before.

I manage several sites. I was just using Chrome as an example. For the most part I use Firefox. I'd prefer to use IE but it's been dumbed down and lacks a number of features found in Chrome and Firefox.

It's a shame Metro apps don't have a way to convert to desktop by default. After all, the product is called Windows not Tiles. One of the major features was drag and drop but not possible in Meto apps. And we are now starting to see some tablets that can run windowed apps. I think MS may have missed an opportunity to show everyone else how it should be done.

Thanks for the feedback. It pretty much confirms my suspicions and experience though I didn't know about the tricks to Netflix and IE. In all likelihood I will just dump Meto as I have little use for it since I don't currently use a Windows tablet or phone.

And besides, I can run Android apps on my Windows desktop if I want to access the same apps.

    Thanks again.

There would have to be two apps. One written for Metro and one written for the Desktop.

Yeah, I noticed that when I logged on to Facebook in the Metro version of IE, Chrome and Firefox. Facebook had me confirm all 6 versions as separate devices. So I have..

    Win8 IE Metro
    Win8 IE Desktop
    Win8 Chrome Metro
    Win8 Chrome Desktop
    ....

    you get the idea.
What a pain. Fortunately I only use one browser regularly but Windows should at least store the data in one place as one app.
