I believe Win 8 is going to be another Windows Vista

I have a computer business and I have already had 7 or 8 people come in cause they cannot do simple things like logging onto a wireless cause cannot find the Icon to seach for available WIreless, etc. People do not want a program they cannot use cause EVERYTHING they have know is gone. Where is the start button? Where is the control panel? Where is the wireless icon? etc etc etc.. I cannot believe your engineers think removing everything that people feel makes them feel in control out of windows is a good idea ! I forsee alot of people coming in wanting 7 put on their PC's like with vista people wanting XP. Bad job boys , bad job !

If you are, we're both having the same hallucination, Mystere.

Mine's right where it always was.

    Mine too!!

As far as the start menu is concerned, there are quite a few small 'add-on' apps to get it back Win 7 style.

The wireless Icon has always been there as Mystere indicated unless on some Laptop, there is an on/off switch for Wireless, and if you turn it off, sometimes it does not show the icon. Everything else is there, control panel etc.... except things have been re-arranged.
Try this, hold WIN key and press X, you'll see a little popup on the bottom left corner with control panel in it or if you use a mouse, just move the pointer to bottom left corner and right click, you'll get the same result.

    Hi there
in addition to the posts above - remember that at the FIRST LOGON you get a large screen with SET UP WIRELESS shown right in front of your eyes !!!!

While I have issues with Windows 8 finding Wireless isn't one of them. It's in EXACTLY the same place as W7 as others posted.

    Cheers

Well .. then the OP and I must be running a Win8 different from the rest of you -- because on MY Win8, the wireless info ONLY shows up in the taskbar if I'm on the Desktop. When the machine boots into the Start screen, there is no wireless icon -- anywhere!

Perhaps this is a settings/config issue -- one that displays the wireless icon on the Start screen -- and if so, I'd like to know what that is.

You just hit on one of the big annoyances with the new modern interface, formally know as metro. It's full screen when open and hides the taskbar. It's also not resizable so as far as Microsoft is concerned it's my way or the highway, you don't get a choice. Your icon's there you just can't see it.

Hi Guys. I am considering upgrading from windows vista to windows 8, but one thing I am not sure of, are games that play on Vista or XP ( Myst Series. Rhem.etc) playable on windows 8? I have too many games to mention here, but would be grateful if anyone could help me. Much appreciated. Thanks....
As title really. What are the chances of Windows 8 being to Windows 7 what Vista was to XP? Everyone seems to be very happy with Windows 7 so do you not think that Windows 8 will flop and everyone will just keep with 7?
