Redirect a Folder To a New Location

Is there a way to do this in 8? I've been doing it since Vista, but I can't seem to make it permanent in 8.

Redirect a folder to a new location

I need the default my documents folder to be on a different drive, I know I can "add another location" for the library, but when programs automatically use "My Documents" they still go into the C:\ instead of being they would be directed to the D:\ because of the above procedure in the link.

You're comment contradicts itself. The method your link mentions requires programs to use shell namespace to look up the location. This is the same method used for the Library.

In either case, if an application writes directly to C:\ then it will still write to C:\

In other words, the methods used to redirect the locations are the same in Libraries as they are in the right click on Vista and XP. It would work the same regardless.

But it doesn't. The only folder I have in my Library is Y:\User\My Documents, however this program created a folder in "C:\User\My Documents". It should have created that folder in the Y drive, but it did not. This same program never had a problem in Vista or 7. Also it isn't only one program that is doing this.
