I upgraded to Windows 8 from the Microsoft Store and it worked but it didn't reset my hard memory. and i didn't buy the Windows 8 dvd so if I reinstall my laptop using the "fresh my pc and start over" option, will it still be windows 8?

I don't know what you mean by "didn't reset my hard memory." Hard driive? Yes, it should still be Win8 if you really installed 8 in the first place. Go to Control Panel > System to see if Win8 is installed if you are uncertain. Here is a good read on doing a reset FWIW. Note that you will need to be able to "insert install media" (e.g., an installation disc) when performing a reset. Perhaps a flash drive with the installer on it would work?

Good point. Interestingly, here is a set of instructions that shows how to "insert" no media during the refresh process per se. You can use either a disc or an ISO to prepare for doing the sans insert "media" refresh. One way or the other you still need a disc or and ISO though. Still not sure about a flash drive.
If you did an upgrade install it likely kept you previously installed programs. It will be Windows 8 but with some of the stuff from your original install.
"Refresh" choice leaves intact your data—photos, music, videos, and documents, your new-style Windows 8 apps, and your system settings.
if you want to take it one step further and get as close to a clean install as possible do a "Reset". You should probabaly read up on both options before deciding. How to Refresh or Reset Your Windows 8 PC | PCMag.com

Hummm. My take on refresh is given below. I've read essentially the same thing many times. ???
Refresh your PC—Attempts to solve system related problems without affecting your files. Installed programs will have to be reinstalled except those from the Windows Store. A list of uninstalled programs is provided. Settings will be changed back to defaults.

My bad. I thought your were replying to "Are sure you did a Refresh, & not Reset." I see now that you were replying to "Refresh will only remove problem programs."
