Within 24-hours I come a long way from Windows 7 to Windows 8 which I'm not too impress with right now -- sorry to say. I found a way to get the Start Menu Button back onto my computer, but I don't know how to load programs on it?

Guys,

I'm still not sure about my "Start Button." I went online & downloaded a Start Button called, ViStart from Lee-Soft.com & I don't think that it's working right. 1st, I'm not able to save programs on the Start Button like described above. Also, this probably doesn't matter to most but I can't get the background color to match my desktop background. I don't know if I ought to uninstall ViStart & try to start from scratch? Any more sughgestions?

No idea what happened there. It works fine for me.

Try pressing the windows key, or clickk on the start button.

If I remember correctly, there is a right click menu on the start button to set up your preferred options.

Did you uninstall Vistart first ? If not, it may be interfering.

You can do so in settings, and click on the Start Button tab, and select the one you wanted. :)

If no one can help at this point, can you system restore to a point before you started trying to add back the start menu button back. Then, start over after you have satisfied yourself that the program you select will do what you want. Another (easy to use) option is StarDock Start8.
