Do you know? Windows 8 contains a similar bug to Vista

To see the bug, follow these steps:

    1. Go to the desktop,

    2. Right Click on the desktop and make new shortcut,

    3. On the Make Shortcut dialog, press cancel,

    4. Right Click again, you will see a new menu: Undo New CTRL+Z

    5. Click the Undo New and it will show:
Just click the skip button, then right click the desktop and you'll find Redo New CTRL+ Y.
If you click the redo button, the New Shortcut will come back but if you look in the properties, you can't set the Target and Start in form. So the shortcut is useless.

As I remember, Windows 7 don't contain this bug.

"Do you know? Windows 8 contains a similar bug to Vista " Very true, both are riddled with problems ;-) Should we call 8 the new vista? or is that a slam against Vista?

    It's an insult to Vista.

I still have Vista installed - good os.

vista is a cheap, outdated, sloppy lady of the night of an operating system to tarnish the Windows brand.

Huh, this doesn't seem to be a major issue, but interesting. I guess this bug was overlooked during development, as this is something one would REALLY need to look for.

I've discovered a workaround for this bug. Just, like, don't do that.

Hey Cokey, don't tarnish the "grande old dame"!

Nothing wrong with Vista with correct drivers and right amount of RAM. Add a SATA3 SSD HD, decent graphics card and CPU, and it flies. I'm still annoyed I didn't really get my money's worth out of Vista.

    Vista is just fine.

Better in many ways than win8.

Vista became the easy target of everyone who had a bone to pick with MS.

I recently restored it on my desktop (to experiment with a Win8 upgrade) and was reminded of how much I really liked using it. I hadn't run it on my current PC (was on a PC two versions back), and was amazed at how fast it runs -- given a multi-core processor and high-speed RAM.

I wouldn't call this a bug. It's behaving exactly as it's supposed to. When you cancel the shortcut creation, it deletes the link as it should. This is why you get the error about not finding the file to delete from Undo. Undo thinks a create operation occurred and it tries to undo it, but the cancel deleted the file before it had a chance to undo it.

Redoing it creates the empty shortcut, and empty shortcuts can't have their targets set. This is just one of those things that happen in complex systems, some operations conflict with others. I think you're trying too hard to find bugs.

What I mean by this is a little more complex than it sounds. So I have the option "Taskbar buttons" as "Never combine". So that is correct, they all show separately in the taskbar. So they may be next to each other, yet they Cannot be separated from being next to each other. I tend to drag...

Hi there I'm not a developer and apart from dabbling quite a lot with EXCEL I don't do much if any coding so I'm not requesting a tutorial on how to write a Metro app. What I Would think would be great would be for some way to customize the User application Tiles --for example with a different...
Tuneup Utilities and Similar in Software and Apps
Hi all, I was wondering what you guys think of programs such as Tuneup Utilities? Worth it? I personally like the idea of a set-it-and-forget-it program that maintains my system, but am not sure if the cost of such programs is worth what they do? TIA
