Do you know? Windows 8 contains a similar bug to Vista

This is why you get the error about not finding the file to delete from Undo. Undo thinks a create operation occurred and it tries to undo it, but the cancel deleted the file before it had a chance to undo it.

Redoing it creates the empty shortcut, and empty shortcuts can't have their targets set. This is just one of those things that happen in complex systems, some operations conflict with others. I think you're trying too hard to find bugs.
Well then why did Explorer thinks a shortcut has been created, that causes the Undo New option is displayed?

Explorer thinks a shortcut was created because a shortcut WAS created. Clicking cancel deletes it though.

I loved Vista, it's still the fastest OS I have ever used.
Back in the Day,,,it was great if you had a system with High enough Specs that would just let it run flat-out.
I'm even thinking of re-installing it & breathing some life back into the old girl
I still prefer it to 7 & 8 & its only real problem is that it's a memory Hog, but you can sort that out easy enough.
You all should be thankful for Vista because that is where Win 7 & 8 started out.

I must agree, if there is no vista, 7 & 8 will just look like the outdated XP.
Before upgrade to W8, my laptop which is using W7 was modded to look like Vista, I just like the Vista-7 Blend.

Geez, vista looked just like a warmed over, glassy xp that looked particularly well when it stopped responding. At least you had a nice "vista" when that happened! I don't like the how it was a such a resource hog, ONLY to run the OS. But then again, it does go to think that without vista, we might not have had ridiculously dirt cheap RAM, dual core standards, and other higher end hardware being standard. The thing is now not needing all that to run Windows now, it's more or less about having actual things that require that hardware such as gaming and other image rendering fun stuff.
