windows 8

can anyone help? I installed the upgrade for windows 8 pro. and after a very long time I got the windows 8 start page. All ok so far. Next time the pc booted up, and after 12 updates I have lost the windows store tile. Any ideas ??

Do you see it on the All Apps screen?

No it's just gone altogether from the computer. I contacted Microsoft and they took over remotely and after 3 hours got it back. Thanks for your help anyway..... dave12

Failing Apps seems to be a common problem with no easy solution. It's happened to me a couple of times and the only way I could fix it was a reinstall. I've already rolled two of my PC's back to Windows 7. I would have done it anyway in another month or so when the CP trial ended. It's not worth it to me to blow 40 bucks each to upgrade them to Windows 8 anyway.

I even tried the reinstall but the computer crashed saying it encountered a problem, also the Microsoft guy said windows 8 doesn't like a high resolution screen. Not too stable yet methinks.

I have only 1366x768 on Win8 laptop good enough for my needs and stable.

What you said here links well with the fact that some people with newer graphic cards had some serious (distorted) display issues, especially in the start screen.

I think all will be fixed over time with updates.
Not to stable yet also methinks.

Now that you mention it, I suspected my Metro problems were graphics related but could never prove it. I should also mention most of my Metro App problems were on the DP and CP, and using the early nVidia windows 8 graphics drivers. I don't know about anybody else, but Refresh, and Reset have never ever fixed any problems I've had with Windows 8. I tried both twice now and things were no better afterwards. It wasn't any worse after either, other than loosing all my installed programs.
