Solved How to unpinch a pinched desktop

Hi, I have a new Win8 laptop, but not a touch screen. I managed to "pinch" zoom the non-Metro desktop using a mouse wheel or mouse and key combination, but now I'd like to get the desktop back to standard 100% zoom.

I'm not sure how to do that. I tried Ctrl-0 (which restores most web browsers to 100% zoom, but that didn't work on the desktop. I can't see any way to see what the current zoom level is, numerically, nor a way to easily and quickly return the desktop to 100% (if it's not there).

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. (I'm not sure if a non-100% zoom would survive a restart - I just can't tell if the desktop is at 100% or not anymore.)

Thanks.

Hello Gary, and welcome to Eight Forums.

If you used the method in the tutorial below, then you should be able to right click on the desktop, and click on View and Medium icons to return the icons back to their default size.

Desktop Icons - Custom Size - Windows 7 Forums

Hope this helps, :)

Thanks Shawn!

I couldn't "remember" what the original fixed sizes of the icons looked like, so I wasn't sure if the presets were returning me to those, or if those sizes had been modified by my zooming. That's great, and I appreciate the help. Now I can customize the sizes as I want, and know that I can always get back to the defaults any time. Thanks again!
