Solved Win 8 Install

I am a 88 year computer novice old OAP and a friend has given me his old Toshiba Laptop I have done the Windows 8 Upgrade Assistant System Check and apart for programmes and and a few things that I have to re-install I have one item that is not compatible and it is 'ATI Catalysr Control Center'.
So my question is can I still install windows 8?

Yes you install windows 8 and try installing the ati catalyst under compatibility mode

The reason it says the Catalyst is not compatible is because the version you have is written for your Operating System, once you upgrade to Windows 8, you can just redownload the new Catalyst Control Center, the site will give you the one designed for Windows 8.

Thank you for your help, just a couple of things if I download windows 8 can save it to a disk? and can I install it on my wifes desktop which has windows 7 ?

The download is only good for one computer, the second one won't activate, but you can put it on a disk or 3GB or larger Flash Drive.

Thanks for info. I will download it and put it on a disk so I can re-install in required.
