Windows won't download after purchase

    Windows won't download after purchase


    My son bought the Windows 8 upgrade on offer 24.99 from MS. But it will not download no matter what option he selects - install now, create media or install from desktop later.
    Just keeps failing saying there is an error and try later.
    Any ideas?

    If your son has the product key number from the email Microsoft sent, then you might see if he may be able to use the method in the tutorial below.

    If not, then what is the full exact error message that it gives?

    Thanks Shawn. Yes, he has the product key, but it's at Step 6) that the problem lies. No matter what he selects, there is an error almost immediately.
    Error says 'Sorry, something happened and we couldn't finish creating the ISO. Restart setup and try again'. Which of course, we've tried a zillion times!

    In that case, you should contact Microsoft via the link below to see what the issue may be. Be sure to include your order number in the email, but do not include your product key number.

    OK, we solved the problem, prompted by your tutorial.
    We deleted the Appdata/Local/Microsoft/Websetup folder, redownloaded the setup file from your link, and voila - it is now downloading.

    Our happiness was short lived. After the download (and burn to DVD) went OK, the install didn't. It does all the pre-checks, and immediately after it starts the install, it fails with 'Windows 8 Install failed' message.
    I feel like giving up!
    I did a SFC /scannow in a Admin command prompt, disabled all startup options, checked the drive, but no matter what I do it's the same.
    My install went without a hitch. Don't know what is happening on this other PC.
    Any ideas?
