win 8 acct

im new to windows 8, i have a question, my son gave me a ssd drive with windows 8 on it, he cleaned his stuff out
on it, but when i launch the system his acct comes up to log in with, is there a way that i can change this so i am
the admin acct holder?,

How did he clean his stuff out? The only way to do so effectively is to reinstall the OS and shut down before steps towards setup are accomplished. Then, the new user can start from scratch. Apparently this was not done. I can't remember for sure, but you may be able to setup a second admin account in Control Panel > User Accounts. I am being vague because I haven't deal the sort of issue you are dealing with in in a long time. Historically, changing an account as you want to do has been difficult WRT getting everyone to work right.

Hello Jack, and welcome to Eight Forums.

If you like, you could just add a new account (local or Microsoft) for you, change the account's type to be an administrator, sign in to it, then delete your son's old account.

Do what brink says. That should work out. You can always do what you say above if you have problems, but you shouldn't.
