Metro Internet Explorer is annoying

Whenever I go to a site that has flash enabled in it, it's useless and I have to go back to the desktop IE to view the complete website. What's Microsoft thinking? Why are they making it so difficult? I love Windows 8, but I have two problems with it. This and the lack of apps so far. Anyone else find this annoying?

Did you install Flash directly from Adobe? If you did, then that overwrite the Metro specific version that Microsoft provides (and they update).

Metro IE does have Flash support. So if you're not getting flash, there is something else wrong. Cheers for jumping to the conclusion that Microsoft doesn't support flash though.

mystere, Microsoft controls which flash enabled sites you can vew though. A lot of sites can't. You have to be on their Compatibility View (CV) list

I'm aware of that, given that I gave you a link to Adobe that says this, and the Adobe site shows you to add a site to the list.

I use the metro IE all the time. Yeah, I've had to use the Desktop version a few times, but then again I don't use sites with odd Flash issues.

The reason why Microsoft decided on doing this is because Flash has been a major security pain for a while now, as well as being a battery whore on mobile. Before, in the preview versions, Flash didn't work with metro IE before they gave in. They've whitelisted about 100 sites that use Flash that don't have security problems to them. Ideally, HTML 5 video is what best way to go for everyone from apple to Microsoft.

You can actually change the defaults for IE to ALWAYS open in the Desktop regardless. Just go the Desktop IE, hit Settings, Internet options, Programs tab, and change the defaults for the Desktop.
