There are a lot more dual or even triple monitor setups than you think. It becoming quite common to have a multi monitor setup.

In 2012 it's very non-productive to have only 1 monitor, if you ask me, Even for a student it's way more efficient to have word open in one monitor and making research on Google on the other one for a school work. A lot more easy to cut and paste too.

"this is not true I install more than ever 2 or 3 monitors in office PCs. I don't know where you live, but on every forum peoples wants GPU with more than 2 outputs."

Those are mainly power users, and far from the typical PC user.

Among what, a few hundred million Windows users? If a few million people are using multiple monitors, I'd be very surprised. Anyway, it's a rather small percentage of the Windows user base.

    .

you call office peoples , " power users " some of them barely know where is the Word icon on their PC. and I'm not joking. sometime they erase an icon by accident, they call me and when I go , I notice they have one on the task bar and I say why you don,t use this one, " oh I never notice it"....power users lol. The majority of my customers hate computers, they don't want to learn about it, they learn the stick minimum for their work, this is good for me because tech savvy don't bring bread on my table.

Actually I was referring to the people on the forums you mentioned, not office workers. And I'm not saying there isn't room for improvement in supporting multiple monitors, just that there aren't enough users (yet) for Microsoft to justify spending a lot of time on something that only applies to a small minority.

...In which case I have to ask, why do they *need* multiple monitors?

easy I will give you 1 example; I have a woman who enter hours of the employees in the accounting software, since they do not pay right away all the hours , they keep track in excel, so she find it more usefull to open excel in 1 monitor and the accounting software in the other one. Before she was printing to do so, I suggest to her boss to install a second $ 120 monitors to be more productive.

A better analogy would be: Why would a bicycle manufacturer waste their time making tandem bikes when most people only need one seat...?

Well, to be honest, I'm dubious that the extra screen real-estate increases productivity all that much.

As you'll know, with multi monitors in Windows 8 you have a start screen on both monitors - but when you launch an application, it'll launch on the screen it was previously on rather than the screen you launched it from (the screen you were using the start menu on). What I was wondering is if...
