    windows upgrade


    i have already installed windows 8 pro rtm version in my laptop.Should i upgrade it to final retail version or rtm is the same to retail version?

    If you mean the Win 8 RTM 90-day evaluation version, that's *not* the same as the final retail version that came out on 26 October, and it can't be upgraded.

    Doesn't prove a thing. Obviously there's some doubt or he wouldn't have asked the original question in the first place.

    Prior to the release of Windows 8, if someone said "I just installed Windows 8 RTM," they were talking about the enterprise evaluation version... Hence the need to clarify what he meant.

    There's nothing for anyone to "deal with" except for the original poster to clarify what he meant. I don't think we should be in the habit of assuming things for the sake of expediency... That doesn't help the questioner.

    i first installed rtm version in my laptop.then i reinstall the retail varsion.finally,the build no. of both os are same.so windows 8 pro rtm= retail.never confuse about it
