INSANELY annoying "mouse lag" with two monitors attached..

I have a laptop that has an Intel Core i7 3612QM (built in HD4000 graphics), and also an Nvidia GeForce GT 630M with Optimus, running Windows 8 Pro x64. All latest updates are installed, and both GPUs have the most current drivers.

I am running into a horribly annoying problem when I attach a second screen to my laptop via HDMI (and extend the display) that did not happen on Windows 7.

It is difficult to explain, and a VERY strange problem. What happens is that whenever the second screen is connected, when I move my mouse pointer over certain things that cause it to change (like hovering over a link turning into a pointing finger), it will stop moving for a second, almost as though it became "stuck" on the place it changed, and the got unstuck.

It does not happen in all programs. In MS Word, and WordPad though, when you move the cursor on and off of the page, as it moves over the border (and changes to the margin resize tool), it happens. It also happens in other programs. It is the most annoying thing in the world. The faster I move the mouse, the worse it is. I have tried forcing the Intel GPU only, and the Nvidia GPU only from the Nvidia drivers. Neither setting has any effect.

Anybody know how to fix this?

This happens to me in Windows 7 at work. I assume it's related to the wireless mouse i'm using, and it's power saving system.

What kind of mouse are you using?

It's a wired mouse. Razer Abyssus. I also have a Bluetooth logitech mouse. Does the same thing, and this never happened on Win7

Like I said, I see the same thing in Windows 7, but I don't see it in Windows 8 with my Logitech Performance MX (also wireless).

I think whatever is causing it is external, since we both see it in different OS's with different hardware.

    I'm getting the same issue.
What's weird is I get the issue on the monitor connected to my GPU, which is an ASUS NVidia GeForce GTX 670. The other monitor which is connected to my motherboard, which is an ASUS Sabertooth z77, is not getting the same issue.

I'm not entirely sure what the problem is, but it may have something to do with the GPU.

I'm on Windows 8 using a wired mouse. Any ideas?

I've got the same issue. Very annoying.
I have an ASUS connected to the HDMI and a LG connected to the VGA.
I tried unplugging the vga and keep the hdmi and voila it stopped lagging.
Same if I unplug the HDMI and keep the vga it also stopps lagging.
    I want my three screens
I think at least I have the latest graphics drivers. And new mouse drivers.
It seems to lag when hovering different things, like the text in the different posts in this thread.

Pretty much the same thing with me, but I use HDMI for both. I'm not sure what to do.

I'm not sure this is limited to Windows 8. I had the same problem in windows 7 which turned out to be related to using multiple display adapters(one Intel) and mouse cursor shadows. Take a look here to try out one of these suggestions. This issue was driving me mad!

I had seen that before. None of those suggestions worked for me.
