Media Center is a Desktop Apps ????

I just finish to install Windows 8 pro in VM to try the Media Center, it's a desktop application like Windows 7, so I lost my time, it's the same thing as 7 should have Google it before.

What is the purpose to pay extra for pro and Media Center ( in normal time after the special ) if it's the same as Windows 7 ??????

You would be stupid to upgrade to Windows 8 solely for media center. Thankfully, most people don't do that. They upgrade for other reasons, and want to have Media Center in their new OS.

Would you really want that from a tablet?

Isn't a Media Center usually ran from a desktop?

I have a Media Center that is on 24/7 but it's a Synology NAS. It uses alot less power than a PC.

For what its worth you can get it free through January.

You email them and they email you a code and then you add it as an app. I think I found the link on this forum, you might do a search here.

Edit: Try http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/w.../feature-packs thanks to someone else, just copied the link from another thread here.

When I installed Media Center I had to do it by getting a key for it then adding features from the control panel. After entering the key for Media Center it installed. It was not a .exe file download.

Why this tread turn on how to install MC

I just say that I was surprise it was the same as Windows 7, I was expecting a new version, may be a metro one. The think is that I have 0 interest in MC, it's just that many of you was asking for a key, so I give a try .

Oh I was expecting a metro app along with a desktop program but I guess not. Does it look exactly the same? Or are there any updates or changes?
