    $500 to upgrade

I have tried to install WIndows 8 Pro upgrade for $39.99 onto my legal copy of Windows 7. The price is over $500, even though I checked the upgrade box. Can somebody help me?

    Hi Vince
Are you trying to upgrade over the internet or have you purchased the upgrade disk?

Where are you getting the upgrade?
The $40 promo only works when you download the upgrade advisor directly from Microsoft.

Groan, I figured it out. The price is in pesos. I live in Mexico, remember? Now I've got to fight with MS to get them to charge me in US dollars.

A bit OT but many years ago in a Chico, California Denny's the manager received a bunch of menus printed in English but with pesos for the amounts.
For about a week he had great fun handing the menus to customers he knew.

That price is correct. 500 pesos = $38 or so.

Good luck with that. I get the feeling that the "Upgrade Assistant" process lacks flexibility.

Try Paypal. It converts currencies and now the server shouldn't be overloaded so it'll go through fine.

I am successfully running Windows 8 Pro right now. My credit card company confirms that $3.61 was added to the price due to currency exchange.

You should get a better credit card. I have no foreign transaction fees or currency exchange fees.
