Windows Media Center Extender blank screen in Windows 8

I just upgraded to Windows 8 Pro with Media Center. When I tried to set up my Linksys Media Center Extender, I just get a blank screen on my TV with no sound. Everything worked fine under Windows 7. Is Windows 8 missing the drivers for Media Center Extenders? Since my main use for this PC is recording and streaming TV shows, I am going back to Windows 7 until this is resolved.

I totally agree with your findings. What a cheek Microsoft have in wanting Customers to purchase a product & then not support anymore. I have just contacted Microsoft & here is the response received from UK online help:

Linksys DMA 2100 Media Extender & Windows 8
    Dear Sirs,
Please can you help? I recently purchased your Windows 8Upgrade for £24.99, which I thought was a great offer, considering you offered5 licences for each home user.
My disappointment soon became apparent when I tried to usemy Media Center again. A black screen on TV when you try to connect to PC.Problem was resolved with Windows 7.
But I am extremely disappointed that so far at the momentyou are not considering (hopefully you will reconsider) allowing LOYAL users tocontinue to use their home setup with Linksys Media Extender with Windows 8. Iwas very dismayed when I read the feedback & comments on internet.
The only way I can continue to listen to my Music recordings+ various other media in my living room is to REBOOT my PC to my Windows 7installation on another partition. I can't use Windows 8 at the same time, which is silly. So if I want to make Windows 8 my current default operatingsystem (which I can imagine you want all users to now use?) I have to use Windows7 while using the extender in another room from PC. I don't want to purchase anew TV which connected directly to the PC. For a start I can't afford it &secondly, I don't want to change my setup just to suit Microsoft in trying tosave money in cutting corners in support, but at the same time, up selling theirlatest "fantastic state of art" Operating system, which I honestlybelieve that once a few things have been ironed out will prove a success.Underneath Windows 8 is the Windows 7 Desktop, so you have the best of bothworlds provided.
So, if a solution patch was made available to Windows 7, whycan't you either allow users the chance to continue or even provideinstructions on how to edit Registery to allow system to work.
I can fully appreciate that you want to make money + thatLinksys no longer support the product, but surely you are committed to goodcustomer service? Not everyone (including myself) can afford to "throwaway" Media extenders & purchase Microsoft XBOX 360 just to get the chanceto continue using the setup allowed previously. I have been recommendingWindows 8 to friends, but I until you supply a solution, I think I will rethinkrecommending upgrading for the future.
I look forward to your feedback, hopefully you are able tohelp & assist, not just myself, but loads of other LOYAL Customers aroundthe UK + also around the World.
    Your Sincerely,
    John L

After the offer you are charging in the shops £49.95 forWindows 8 + ALSO Another £49.95 (John Lewis current price) for the MediaExtender add on pack, which is very misleading if you no longer will helpsupport customers upgrading from Windows 7.
