I have a Samsung Series 5 laptop, and I have recently updated from Win 7 to Win 8. I was having issues with my tiles not opening after the install, I found some things online saying it had to do with Avast antivirus, as well my wifi stopped working saying there was an issue with Qualcomm Atheros driver/connection. So I uninstalled Avast, however, this is where my real issue arose. When it was trying to restart after the install it started to boot up fine, but after the 4 little blue squares come up with the spinning dots it immediately loads the screen with the time and date displaying the wifi connection and battery life in the bottom left corner. From here I can't do anything, my keyboard is not working and my mouse does not show up. I have tried rebooting and refreshing the PC, as well and I get to the login screen now on Safe Mode sometimes and my keyboard there won't let me type my password. Someone please help I unfortunately have all my school notes on there and was stupid enough not to back them up. Any help would be greatly appreciated I have been trying for hours.

If you have a USB/DVD copy of your install try inserting it and attempt to do a repair. If repair doesn't work then do a reinstall (don't install Avast since Win 8 comes with its own Anti malware/virus program). Good luck and BTW welcome to the 8 forums.

If you spam F2 ( could be esc or F12) on boot will it take you to bios or keep going to windows.
**If you don't know your way around the bios don't change any thing. You can just hard power off to exit**
