How do i view the System Info? and some other questions

Arrrragh!!! Finally got W8 and have some questions

    1) I cant seem to figure out how to view the system info.

I know how to go control panel and see the spec but i want to see this part.

    the "About Windows" Window?

    Google Image Result for http://blog.brothersoft.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/11/transform_windows_xp_into_windows_7_09.jpg

    2) Another Question is? Havent tried it yet, but what happens if you dont have internet connection? am i locked out? since it connects my hotmail account to log in.

    3) Does W8 need Anti Virus Software?

I would still need my AVG and Malware bytes right?

Since the Metro App, eg bing/google search - what happens if i go on a website which has Malware/virus via metro app am I invincible to viruses or will i still get them?

    Thank You

    1) Open a command prompt and type "Winver"

    2) No, windows caches your offline credentials. However, I have heard of people getting locked out do to a bug, and your credentials will eventually expire. If you do this a lot, I would suggest NOT signing in with your hotmail account, but rather do a local account and then later link it to hotmail.

    3) Windows Defender, included with Windows 8 has anti-virus that is the same as Microsoft Security Essentials. I like it a lot, and it works really well and does not interfere with things like some other antivirus does. But, if you want to use a specific antivirus you must install that.

No antivirus makes you invincible to viruses or malware. They all have problems identifying new strains that have not yet been added to their databases. But Windows Defender works with Metro as well.

Yes, it's built in. You access it from the all programs menu, or from Control Panel.

N.B. In Windows 7 it's called Microsoft Essentials but in Windows 8 it is called Windows Defender. Suggest you add MalwareBytes and CCleaner to your arsenal of protection.

Hi, I am wondering if it is the same procedure to install Windows 8 consumer preview on a GPT formatted disk as it is in Windows 7. In Windows 7 GPT I just need to make the 3 partitions: EFI, MSR, and the Storage. But in Windows 8 there is an extra partition when installed on a GPT disk by...
