Installing directly to external drive + Bootcamp

My internal hardrive is fried, and so I'm just running OSX off an external hard drive. I can install other OS' on it no problem, but only if they support external installs. So, does the Windows 8 install support external drives straight from the disc? Or does it require to you install from the "Windows on the Go" app that was advertised. Also, does Windows 8 currently have any problems installing the Bootcamp drivers?

A friend installed Windows 8 on his older MacBook Air, so there shouldn't be a huge problem as far as I can tell.

I've heard you can install Windows 8 in native EFI mode (rather than with bootcamp), but others say they've had problems due to apple's EFI being non-standard. Either way, I guess it depends on how the Mac handles it.
