    Windows 8 pro 49.99

Hello there, I was planning on getting windows 8 for my new machine. I installed windows 7 hoping to purchase windows 8. I then realized that if i wanted to install windows 8 for 50 quid I would have to be upgrading.

Could I save 50 pounds on a non licensed windows 7 machine and then just install the windows 8 disk through the computer like normal? Or will windows be looking out for this and not allow me to do this?

I have a laptop that has windows 7 Could i 'copy its' OS and then upgrade from that to windows 8? Any solution on how to get it for slightly cheaper(student with little money)

Thank you very much Trevor BOultwood

    Hi, Trever!

If you are a student, refer to your school's DreamSpark account (if owned)

    DreamSpark

Now to copy the OS, that may be the issue. Is this a legal "copy" (such as a backup, to an external drive), because 7 should be legally installed. If you plan to dual boot, 7 should stay itself and you should buy a valid copy of 8. Piracy is never the answer in these situations or any for that matter.

8 could be installed on a second partition and you could use Disk Management in Computer Management.

Thank you muchly for the reply! It means a lot to me for someone to actually reply to my thread. My school is not a part of DreamSpark annoyingly but I don't plan to dual boot. Last night I ordered myself a copy of Windows 8 hoping that my idea will work(Cross fingers). So currently my windows 7 is 'cracked' (I know I am sorry I don't mean to be a 'hatter' its just I haven't got the money need to activate.) So my plan was with my current cracked machine is to buy the official windows 8 upgrade kit so that I don't have to buy windows 7 and can just install over this windows 7 saving me from having to buy the OEI version witch comes at twice the price.
I have heard somewhere that as long as its cracked with the most recent patch I should be able to get away with this.

I just don't like having a cracked machine because it feels like every thing has gone wrong like aro not working and BSOD constantly occurring and forcing me to re-install IF not! I might just have to flog the copy of windows 8 on ebay hoping to get a little of my money back! But lets hope it works.

Cracked editions cause many problems, and I understand, money is everything.

The upgrade may work, always owned uncracked editions of Windows, but the price of 8 probably shouldn't be a problem.

Hope you get everything worked out!

I thought I might as well update you! So I and, I am sure some other people received their copy of windows 8 today. Nearly missed the courier man! But thats another story. IT turns out with the 50 quid OS you can boot into it so it doesn't verify that you have a windows 7 computer or any thing like that it works straight out of the box!

Windows 8 is brilliant totally worth every penny! Just takes some getting used that's all! Trevor Boultwood!

Sorry about the late reply. I hope everything on 8 is working and well. I might putting 7 on one of my partitions on my desktop rather than my laptop.
