Works fine and seems stable, just doesn't add up to something I would toss w7 to use.
Agreed. I think with a benchmark you could prove additional efficiences but in real world day to day usage, I think the difference is somewhat unnoticeable. But our opinions on this seem to be less the norm as many rave about the performance gains. I just haven't been able to prove or quantify it with a stopwatch using the hardware that I use.

Thanks everyone for the replies !

Good to hear that it should work with older programs/games.

I downloaded the RTM trial and I will find a time to try a dual-boot. Either way though, I won't be upgrading anytime soon, I'm just curious .

A wise decision I feel. It's highly recommended to dual boot as secondary OS to try it out. No sense in throwing good money at something you may not like. Good luck.

If you dual boot, use a VHD! Brink posted a tutorial:

No, I haven't been to tell much difference, either.

I think those who think they do are comparing a fresh clean install of win8 against their existing installed os. No surprise a clean install seems snappier.

Thanks for the suggestion! One problem, I have Win7 Pro. Will I not be able to boot from VHD with Win7 Pro?

Okay, thanks for the info. I've never dealt with VHDs before, so I'm new to the subject.

Heya guys! Question??? I have Win8 64-bit Pro with Multimedia. I never did the 8.1 preview. Yesterday I wanted to upgrade to 8.1 and did not see anything under Windows Update fine! Then I checked in the MS Store and found the 8.1 upgrade available but the part that got me worried is it...

Hi guys, hoping you can help me with this. I have been experiencing regular BSODs at a rate of about one per 2-3 days. The time at which they occur seem random - whether the PC is idle or running games seems to have no particular effect. I've run the Windows Memory Diagnostic as well as...

This is an experience report comparing Windows7 Mobile to the other five OS contenders in the mobile market. Bottom line: Win7 Mobile is the most stable. Now if they don't muck it up, Win8 should have a great future in the mobile market - and the PC. Microsoft's Windows Phone 7 is the most...
