Seriously, who is Windows RT for?

So IT sets up one or multiple desktops that all can log into? This can be used in all sorts of senari, can't it? e.g. -> A teacher and students -> Managers meeting, just to name a few.

There is also a Win RT remote desktop app, which can connect to Win 2012 hosted VDI...

VDI is awesome. Can nearly use dumb terminals and connect remotely from anywhere. No need to send an employee or executive home with a laptop that can be stolen and company information leaked, have them run a desktop remotely and if they lose their device....oh well.

Would WinRT (or Win8Pro Surface for that matter) suitable for anyone looking to replace their old laptops?

Essentially I am tired of being tiered to my PC+HDTV and having to power-on both when I want to do something quick like check something online. My fiance does have an android smartphone, and I do like the touchscreen+portability of it. But I cannot type on the blasted thing's screen to save my life. So I figure a surface-style tablet gives me the touchscreen, portability and a full keyboard/mouse trackpad - depending on the situation I need it for.

Seems to have a usb port for putting media on and off of the device, and a micro hdmi port to flip the display onto the HDTV when i want it larger. Seems I could do most of my computer tasks on a surface pro since it'd be a full version of Win8 as opposed to a different kind of operating system, and I would probably only need to use my HDTV+PC if I am capturing game footage or playing PC games specifically.

You are only allowed to do what MS deigns to let with your own machine.

You are also only allowed to run software that MS has approved.

    Ghastly.

With pro version - you are still restricted as to what you can do with the o/s - tho. you can ( for the time being at least ) get your desktop software without specific MS censorship.
