I've been playing it for a couple of days now. So far I'm liking it. Its the same thing but different. I played the original but now that I think about it, I don't think I ever actually finished it. I liked HL2 also. I managed to finish that one.

Black Mesa's almost the same as Half Life ( Version 1 ). The difference is that the 'groovy' monsters are present in Black Mesa, and the player isn't Gordon Freeman anymore, it's some soldier fighting against electric-producing monsters.

    You're still Gordon Freeman.

Did you play the original Half Life game? In both versions one of the first things he does is put on a haz mat suit. He wears it into the experiment that goes wrong and starts the whole thing off. Then you spend the rest of the game trying to keep it charged up so you don't get killed. I guess you could call it a soldier suit but its not the same suit the soldiers are wearing. I just went though the "Waste" Processing Center. You're swimming in it so I was quit happy to have the haz mat suit on.

I think VIIB is confusing Half Life with the add on pack Opposing Force where in the single player game you played the part of a soldier.

I did play Half-Life, in FPS, not Third Person Screen. Also, i never knew you were talking about Opposing Force. When you start the level in Half Life ( Episodes ), you start in some skin, not a soldier skin. As the level pass on, then you get the skin.
