Good evening,

I was wondering if anyone else has problems playing Call of Duty 2 under Windows 8?

In Windows 7 I had no problems, running perfectly. Now, when I join a public server, I'm being kicked with the message:

Unkown Windows API function

Any solutions? I know it's an old game but it should run fine with some tweeks. The Steam version runs without problems though.

It will play on my 64-bit RTM but is a bit 'wobbly' and temperamental.

I don't game online (low monthly limit) so can't help on that, sorry.

Hello ;

This is the nature of every new Windows OS that comes out. My advice would be to wait until 8 has been around for awhile & let somebody else suffer the bugs & wait for patches. That isn't how I would want to spend my spare gaming time.Windows 8 may get skipped like Millenium & Vista.I'm planning on running Windows 7 until the tires fall off.

Try installing this - Download: Microsoft XNA Framework Redistributable 4.0 - Microsoft Download Center - Download Details

Hope this helps :)

PunkBuster does not support beta releases of Windows they say. So Windows 8 has been officially released I hope they are fixing this right away.

I have some other problems in Call of Duty 2 though. Even in compatibility modes.
When I join the game, I have to press ALT+TAB to go to the desktop and then to the game again so I can move my mouse in the game, I cannot adjust the game brightness (gamma) and the mouse is laggy (weird movement in-game and in the game menu).

i also get kicked all the time because of my windows 8 and i have no beta. I have a normal windows 8 professional over a month now.. because i am a IT student at a school i got an early release and its not a beta... so the problem is not that it is a beta or something. I still havn't got a fix tough

Regarding the kicks problem simply send evenbalance an email with the kick message, your player name and your pb guid. I think they will fix this.

Don't you have the problems I mentioned above in cod2?

I have the same problems. Can't adjust brightness and mouse acts weird. Still waiting for a possible solution.
