Solved Weird Bug with Fallout Series

I'm running Windows 8 Consumer Preview 64 Bit. Basically all my games work great except my favorites, Fallout 3 and Fallout New Vegas(steam). Both games load the launcher where I can play with settings options and see the DLC's I have for the game, but when I try to run the game the screen either turns completely purple or does not run at all. If it turns purple/pinkish I can hear the main menu's music but see nothing and with in 5 seconds the games crashes.

I've installed DirectX and reinstalled it,
I tried updating my graphics drivers,
I have tried reinstalling the games,
I have tried disabling one of my dual screen monitors,
I have tried running in compatibility mode,
I tried changing the resolution,
I tried changing the d3d9.dll,
I tried changing fallout.ini to force run on one core of my CPU(IE added lines: bUseThreadedAI=1 and iNumHWThreads=2),
and I even tried windowing the game

I am totally stuck. Please help. I've heard on the forums other people have got these games to run perfectly. HOW?

FIXED! I uninstalled both games and installed Games for Windows Live (GFWL) then reinstalled. Worked like a charm. Weird because both games are for steam too. Funny because actually signing on to GFWL doesn't seem to work but I never use that service so doesn't matter to me. :D Hope it helps anyone else out. What clued me in was, I suddenly started showing an error a day ago just with Fallout 3 that said "The ordinal 42 could not be located in the dynamic link library C:\Windows\SYSTEM32\xlive.dll." Glad to catch a break.
