Can't Install The Sims 2

I've been trying to install TS2 on my laptop running the RP. However when I get to the screen to select where to install it to (after picking the language and inputting the serial number), I go to click next, the screen disappears for a brief second and then pops up again. It's the exact same screen that pops up after clicking next. I've tried to install it both from the disks, and a downloaded version, to no avail.

Setting the compatibility settings to W7 or XP does not help either, nor does running with admin privileges. I can run SimCity 4 (which I believe is slightly older than TS2) just fine under W8. Anyone have any ideas on how to fix this?

Right... It is possible that the program is not compatible with Windows 8. A lot of things are being changed, as you can see from using it.Generally, however, things that run in Windows 7 will run in Windows 8. That said, according to the compatibility report from the Windows 7 compatibility center, it is not compatible with Windows 7.

The game does install on the rtm version of 8.
