Need help with configuring gamecube controller

I have a USB-wired Gamecube Controller that directly connects to my laptop via a usb cord that is directly connected to my controller. I am trying to use the Dolphin Gamecube Emulator to try and play some games, but when I try to configure my controller for the buttons, the program does not let me change the buttons. I click on the command that I want to set a button to, but the program does not allow me to change the button. I have a WINusb driver installed for the controller and I am running Windows 10. My version of Dolphin is Dolphin 5.0. I have no idea why this is happening. Please help.
