    Games and Dual Monitors

Hey everyone. I'm having some weird issues with my dual monitor setup.
If I play a game in fullscreen, any video playing on the second monitor lags and delays heavily. If I minimize the game, the video in the second screen runs fine. It doesn't seem to matter which game it is, and it's only with games. If I run 2 videos in full screen on both monitors, both run fluid. This wasn't an issue in Win7 so I'm wondering what's wrong for me in Win8.

I can run a metro game full screen on (mahjong)one monitor and a video full screen on the other.
or live tv in media center and a video OK obviously the sound is overlapped.
Are you talking about a more intensive both graphics and cpu on the desktop, and a video on the desktop,
if so I cannot really help as no "real" games are on my W8 system.
But a good guess it is the graphics driver in built into 8 and we need to wait until the individual drivers are optimised for W8

    Hi there
i got exactly the same problem as rombeau4
some help would be very helpful i just do not switch back to seven because i am almost sleeping in front of my computer
PS: playing some "real" game on first display (team fortress2, though far from the most demanding resources)
    video on second display
when the video is in full screen it stutters like hell and delay

i was wondering, could it be a ram issue? or do i have to check the flash player

    Hey.

I think the problem is caused by the os itself where they thought it was a good idea to cap the framerate of windows which are "in background" to the fullscreen application. It was probably implemented to save power for battery powered units. This is just my guess though..

Maybe there is a registry key or something which changes this behaviour?

hey godotsan that would be a good guess maybe because i noticed every application seems framerate-capped on the second screen

due to that and additional compatibility driver issues i switched back to windows 7 and probably wait for a release version

Yeah this would mess up my HTPC setup BIGTIME.

Hopefully fixed in RTM, I really hate seeing things go backwards :/

Exact same issue here. It seems impossible to play any kind of video (it doesn't matter if it is in VLC or Youtube or anything else) in the second monitor, while simultaneously playing a game in the first monitor in the multi-monitor setup.

Any help appreciated, because this is annoying to the degree that I am considering going back to Win 7 ... :/

I don't think it has been said yet, but when I upgraded from RP to RTM (no reformatting, just upgrade) the issue was fixed for a moment. For some reason, it came back later. I don't know if it came from installing the Nvidia Drivers or from a Windows Update or from something else.

    But gosh, it sucks..
