Hi,

Has anyone been able to get this game to run in Windows 8? Upon hitting launch, the game goes to a black screen and then crashes. Looking on the Steam forums, a few others using Windows 8 have encountered the problem, so I guess it is the likely culprit.

Is there anything that can be done to fix it?

Thanks.

*Here is the Steam thread for reference.

I think you're having same problem as me with Battlefield 3... I've been looking for solution last few days, and I haven't found anything useful :(

Unfortunately none of the compatibility settings make any difference. I've tried a few other suggestions, such as running Steam and the actual executables as an admin and also turning off my virus protection, still nothing.

It might be a stupid question, but in order for it to run on Windows 8, would the W8 team need to do something? Or would it be the developers of LA Noire?

Battlefield 3 runs fine on my end, so I wouldn't think it is a Windows 8 problem.

May I know what kind GPU u have ? I have problems with Battlefield 3, when running on multiGPU it crashes like you said above. Try to run game in singleGPU mode. I have 295GTX and it is in nVidia Control Panel, I can help you with this, but if you have ATI i dont have any experiences with it, i think it's called crossfire or somehow, you need to disable it. Good luck

I'm pretty sure it's a Steam specific problem. Is your copy the retail version slyr? If it isn't, then I have no idea what you're doing differently to the rest of us. lol.

I'm having the same problem as slyr. I know that it used to say something about multithread in Windows 7, but now it does not.
I'm currently under Win 8 w/ Geforce 8600mgt and tried uninstalling the game a gazillion times.

I even reinstalled it with Nvidia's 302 drivers for Win8.

In the thread I linked, we found a solution. Only problem is that it runs in Czech, but it's not a huge deal. At least it's playable.
