    Fps drop ingame after upgrading from 7 ultimate to 8.1 pro


    Good evening,

    So i upgrated my os yesterday (format + fresh install) from 7 ultimate to 8.1 pro.

    I used to have 180-250 fps on "cs go" now i only have 80-150 fps.

    I ve searched all tweaks on google for 8.1 pro and applied a lot of them but still no effects.

    Can someone help me with this ?


    ps: all drivers are up to date.

    Hi Vincent86, welcome to the forum. I don't know if it will help but I have been reading about high precision event timing (HPET) affecting some systems. You may have a setting for it in BIOS. If not, there are BCDedit commands to turn it on or off.

    Yes i did try to modify HPET, unfortunatly no improvement without it.

    I have to think it may be a problem with CS:GO 8.1 compatibility or graphics drivers.

    I still get up to ~300fps. Did you check your driver-settings ?

    Yes i ve the latest gforce 770 driver, i ve msi live for the motherboard with the latest bios.

    - CUDA - GPUs = All
    - Multi-display/mixed-GPU acceleration = Multiple display performance
    - Power management mode = Prefer maximum performance

    Windows-8.1 usually results in most cases in a better performance when gaming, but there are a few games, mainly older ones, which are causing some issues.

    I can't compare the CS:GO performance with Windows-7, because I moved on to Windows-8 / 8.1 pretty early, but I get the max. ~300fps with 1920x1080 and all quality-settings maxed-out and the very bad SLI-Scaling.

    Yes i did configure all settings correctly. i ve v340.52 drivers aswell. I don't think it s related to the GPU.

    Another think i lose half fps when i look at scoreboard (on cs go). Something that was not the case before (on win7). And i ve seen on google some ppl getting that problem too with different patches from valve.

    edit: Same in spectator i lose 1/4 fps ...

    Did you try running it in compatibly mode ?

    If you don't have a 120/144Hz screen I would not bother about it and just activate adaptive VSync and disable in-game VSync off.

    The game makes me even with ~300fps motion-sick.

    My fps fluctuate as well. In some stages I get over 3000fps, when the game is loading.

    yes i have a benQ 144 hz .yes i tried compatibility mode, doesn't work. The problem is that affect my game play otherwise even with a 144 hz screen i would not bother.
