Hi so my problem is really driving me crazy, i cant seem to run any app related to gaming whatsoever. Per example steam app, league of legends, any other game i have, battle net desktop app. In the steam and battle net desktop apps i click the launcher and it opens the small window (Updtaing steam or updating battle net) and when its done nothing happens. As for games i click the launcher and nothing happens. I've tried launching admin, on a different account, re installing everything nothing works.

Thanks in advance

Does the Steam icon appear in your taskbar? Or does everything just disappear? Also can you fill in your system specs in the profile so we can see what you are working with?

It seems like it's crashing. I play stem as well, Did you look at the game requirements before downloading? Some games have Hi specs to play and some games need to have a different Operating System to play.

NVidia just release 340 driver that changed quite a few things. For example, the CUDA codec is gone, replace by a newer technology for 600 and above cards. I had to roll back to the 337 drivers for some video editing requirements. If you manually or the system automatically installed the new driver, it may have caused your problem.

If you haven't already, try a clean install of your video drivers. It's a option during the NVidia install process. It has resolved issues several times, especially with games. Then, if that doesn't work, try rolling back to 337.

Try disconnecting everything from your computer other than the essentials - mouse, keyboard, speakers, and monitor. See if you can run games that way. I had a similar problem where Steam wouldn't run on my computer if I had my older webcam plugged in, it would cause a crash unless I unplugged it.

If you can run other programs in Windows 8 but just not games, it really sounds like a DirectX problem or something related to just games, not necessarily your system overall.

Try uninstalling Steam, but save your game files first so you don't have to download them again. It means copying your SteamApp folder somewhere where they won't get deleted.

Here is the article on Steam about moving it to a new location. I couldn't find one about reinstalling. But the warnings about saving your SteamApp folder apply. Hopefully you have enough space somewhere else to copy/move the files until you delete/reinstall.

Once reinstalled, move the games back and let Steam check them.

If that doesn't help, you might very well have a system problem.

I ve tried all those steps in steam and still doesnt work, im now attempting TairikuOkami steps to see if it works. If it still doesnt work ill just probably take it to the manufacturer since its still under warranty ....

That's not related to Windows-8.

My wife is still running Windows-8, as I couldn't find the time to move her to Windows-8.1 yet and there are no problems with Steam or Battle Net or any actual games.

Are you using your GeForce 750M or the Intel one ?

You may have to force the use of the NVIDIA one.

After steam fails, it reports back to steam the error.
You could try to run scan for viruses, just to be sure:

Kaspersky Virus Removal Tool Free Download

Start command prompt and enter this command: tasklist > filename.txt
It will create a list processes, that you are running, post it back here.
The file will be created in your user folder, similar like on this screen:
