Hi,i hv dell vostro 3521 running on windows 8.1 . When i play game ( i.e assassins creed brotherhood ) i am getting only 8-10 fps and its lagging like hell. When i checked gpu usage in msi afterburner its shows both intel hd 4000 and 7670m are used . So how do i change it to only utilise dedicated gfx ?

The easiest way is to make sure you have your monitor cable plugged into the dedicated card spot ( hdmi or whatever )

Generally this is BIOS dependent though.

Reference to this video for the BIOS change

Please remember editing the BIOS is at your own risk.

The hdmi part was only an example it could be a vga/dvi. How many video connections do you have on your laptop?

There are two modes in Catalyst Control Center: 'Power saving' and 'High Performance'. If 'Power saving' is selected for an application, then it uses Intel graphics card. If 'High Performance' is selected for an application, then it automatically uses the AMD Radeon graphics card. You can configure it according to your preference. It is advisable that you choose 'High Performance' for application which uses more memory like games etc.
Here’s how you can configure it:

  • Click on ‘Start’
  • Click on ‘Programs’
  • Click on ‘Catalyst Control Center’
  • Click on ‘Power’
  • Select ‘Switchable Graphics’

  • Choose an application from the list or browse and select an application and assign the appropriate GPU such as High Performance, Power Saving
  • To assign any specific application, you can click on ‘Browse’ and look in the specific folder for .exe file

  • Click on 'High Performance' or 'Power Saving' under 'Recent Applications' to change association

Hope this helps.
