Windows 8.1 Alt tabbing during gameplay

I'm having an issue with Windows 8.1 that I haven't been able to resolve. What happens is I load a game, any game, and the operating system seems to Alt+Tab to the desktop without my instruction after about 10 minutes of game play. What I've done to check:

  • Checked the keyboard. The keys are working fine and responsive/non-clogged.
  • Checked background programs. I've started windows with no background programs running and it still has this problem.

I'm unsure the cause of this problem, but the above has not resolved the issue which has been bugging me for about 2 months now. The programs I have in the start up are:

  1. Asus DG Audio Center
  2. Mad Catz R.A.T mouse Utility
  3. Intel Rapid Storage Technology
  4. Onedrive
  5. Steam
  6. KeyScrambler
  7. Roccat Isku Utility
  8. Nvidia GeForce Experience
  9. VmWare Workstation
  10. Bandicam
  11. Zotac Firestorm

I have chcked for notifactions that might be causing this issue. There doesn't appear to be any popups or programs that have any attention required notices. Is there anything I can do to check the cause of this issue? Perhaps disabling the ability to alt tab?

Thank you

Can I assume you are in fullscreen video mode in these games? Have you updated your graphics driver recently? What video card o you have?

do you have power save mode on? Do you have screen saver/etc on? sleep mode?

do any of the software components you listed have automatic updates turned on? One of those software utilities could be kicking you out of the game to focus on updating.( I have read in topics elsewhere before that a Nividia Update Checker did this to some people )

Do any of these programs monitor things such as heat levels and such?
